Arsonists who set three cars ablaze on the same drive are being hunted by police.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and information after the vehicles – which were all parked on the driveway of a property in Barnacres Road, Hemel Hempstead – were torched at around 1.15am on Thursday, March 12.
A silver Vauxhall Astra van, a burgundy Vauxhall Vectra estate and a white Citroen Relay van were targeted at the house, which is near the junction with Candlefield Road.
Two men were seen to approach three vehicles at the side of the property, and set them alight. It is believed that they used an accelerant.
Both men then ran off down Candlefield Road.
The fire service was called and the family living at the property were evacuated, as well as neighbours due to the close proximity of the fires to the house.
Det Con Ailsa Turnbull is investigating and said: “I would ask anyone who was in the area to contact me if they saw or heard anything suspicious.
“Thankfully the fire brigade prevented this fire from spreading further, however, thousands of pounds of damage has been caused by these mindless actions. If you know anything which could help identify the offenders please call me.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Turnbull at the Hemel Hempstead local crime unit using the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference D1/15/1552.
Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 55 111.
