The borough council has been doing its bit to encourage local business growth after hosting its third annual Look No Further Showcase.

This year’s theme was ‘a taste of Dacorum’ and formed part of the council’s Dacorum: Look No Further campaign, which tries to help our
businesses prosper.

Mike Penning, MP for Hemel Hempstead, opened the Showcase and described Dacorum as a ‘thriving businesses community’.

He said: “It is a great opportunity to get so many local companies and organisations together under one roof.

“The more aware that local buyers, suppliers, and potential partners are of one another the greater the opportunity for them to work together in a way that builds their businesses and boosts the local supply chain.”

Key local suppliers exhibited to give visitors ‘A taste of Dacorum’ in a dedicated area put on in conjunction with the Dacorum Local Food Initiative, aimed at promoting produce that can be sourced locally.

The Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce hosted a pre-Showcase Local Lunch before the event where guests were treated to a delicious two course ploughman’s style lunch made entirely from local produce, put together by Nicole Jackson from the Dacorum Local Food Initiative and the head chef and team at Shendish Manor Hotel.

Businesses enjoyed a speed networking session, hosted by Business Buzz, where they got a chance to meet with other local businesses in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

As well as putting on this flagship event for business, the Council’s Economic Wellbeing team support local enterprise with a business support package.

If you are a Dacorum business, thinking of taking on an apprentice, or looking to relocate to Dacorum, contact the team at or on 01442 228570 to arrange a meeting.
