DACORUM has seen plenty to make it proud during the last week or so, with Adeyfield gymnast Max Whitlock winning two bronze medals at the Olympics.

Max is doing more than anyone could have ever expected to put Dacorum on the map – but we know there are plenty more of you out there working day in, day out for the greater good, work that often goes unrecognised.

Well, we are aiming to change all that, because together with our big sister paper the Gazette we’re launching the inaugural Pride In Dacorum awards.

Pride in Dacorum is headline sponsored by Costa and Dacorum Borough Council. There are awards in a number of categories – listed here – and nominations should be made online, where an easy to complete form has been prepared to make the process quick and easy.

You can also see the criteria for each of the categories on the website.

Each award will be sponsored by a local group or organisation. One of them is West Herts College, which is sponsoring the Young Achiever award.

Principal Gill Worgan said: “West Herts College is delighted to be involved with the Pride in Dacorum Awards Dacorum has a thriving community and it really is wonderful for the area’s unsung heroes to be recognised.
