Supermarket giant Tesco has announced it is backing a scheme that gives food to those facing tough times.

The Dacorum Foodbank will be taking donations from shoppers at the Jarman Park store on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 6pm.

Nationwide Tesco will be topping up the total donations by 30 per cent and providing funding to the Trussel Trust, which runs foodbanks, and food supply group Fareshare.

Dacorum Foodbank manager Sharon Boyall said: “We have seen record numbers turn to foodbanks in the last six months. We’ve already fed 1,954 local people this year. Dacorum Foodbank is delighted to be part of Tesco’s Help Feed People in Need appeal as we’re anticipating more people will need emergency food this winter than ever before.”
