AN EVENTS co-ordinator held a street collection to raise funds for dogs in need.

Ann Cooney, representing the eastern region of Greyhound Rescue West of England, collected £161.83.

She said 100 per cent of the cash she has received will go towards dogs in the care of the registered charity she works for.

The fundraiser was at Berkhamsted market in High Street, and said she was very pleased with the contribution made by townspeople.

She said: “Our thanks go to the very generous people of Berkhamsted.”

Greyound Rescue West of England was set up to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome abused and abandoned greyhounds and lurchers in the west of England.

But after massive expansion, it now operates nationally.
