REGISTRATION for the 44th annual fundraiser of its kind has opened.

Participants in the Berkhamsted Walk are asked to donate or raise sponsorship of a minimum of £30 for The Children’s Society.

Twelve and 18-mile circular routes will set off from The Court House in the town’s Church Lane during the hike on Sunday, May 13.

A six-miler will begin and end at Ashridge House on the same day.

The event has raised £275,000 since its original launch – and its 2012 fundraising target is £7,000.

Maggie Allen, regional fundraiser for The Children’s Society, said: “A child runs away from home or care every five minutes in this country.

“An estimated 2,800 children will run away in Bucks and Herts alone this year. You can help to make a difference to young runaways in Bucks, Herts, and all over the country, by taking part in the Berkhamsted Walk.”
