A SPORT club that is about to celebrate its 60th anniversary is also at risk of closure.
Membership of Little Gaddesden Bowls Club has dropped from more than 70 to less than 40 - and only 20 of those are active. The club is losing about £1,500 per year.
Plus it will soon have to fork out £4,500 or more to fix a leak in the roof of the Church Road bowls pavilion.
Now a meeting of Little Gaddesden Parish Council has heard that if nothing is done, the village bowls club could fold by autumn 2013.
Club chairman Tommy Tucker said: “We need support from the parish council, because we are an attractive addition to and worthwhile amenity in the village.
“It would be sad to lose our village bowls green.”
The club will celebrate its 60th anniversary next year.
