Pets at Home wants customers to ‘round up to a £1’ on their shopping bill and donate the difference to the RSPCA during a weekend of fundraising.

Charity pin badges for the animal charity are also being sold at the tills in the London Road store.

Store manager Gerry McDermott said “We held a similar fundraising weekend last year and managed to raise more than £18,000 across our all our stores. However, we’re hoping to beat that target this year.

“Our customers are always so generous. They’re animal lovers, just like us, and share our passion for pets – so I know they will donate what they can.”

The appeal is being run by Support Adoption for Pets, established by Pets at Home.

The fundraiser is running from this Friday to Sunday.
