DINERS helped to raise almost £300 for their local hospice by enjoying a six-course charity dinner.

The event, which was organised by chef and patron of Restaurant 65 Grant Young, can still tot up more cash for The Hospice of St Francis when it holds a raffle for the tickets sold at the Hemel Hempstead eaterie.

Food lovers can still buy tickets this week to be in with a chance of winning a free meal, cutlery set or a bottle of wine with a meal at the award-winning high street restaurant.

The event attracted 22 people on Thursday night and could be the first of many for the Berkhamsted-based hospice as Grant has chosen it as his charity of the year.

He said: “It went really well on the night and I’ve had had great feedback from the diners.”
