The new rector of Holy Cross Church, Sarratt and St Paul’s Church Chipperfield will be installed at services on Monday, June 3.
The first service will be at Holy Cross at 7pm followed by a second at St Paul’s Church, Chipperfield, at 8.15pm. Refreshments will be served at Chipperfield Village Hall from 9.15pm.
There will be benefice prayers at Holy Cross from 2pm to 3pm on Monday afternoon.
Villagers are asked to pray for the new rector, the Rev Michelle du Saire, and her new family and for the two churches as a new chapter begins in the life of the benefice.
Parishioners are invited to meet the new rector at a family service which will form part of the Holy Cross flower festival which begins on Saturday, June 29.
The festival theme is a celebration of 150 years of the London underground, and the church will be open from 10am to 5pm on the Saturday, 11.30am to 5pm on Sunday and 11am to 3pm on Monday. There will be a concert on Saturday evening at 7.30pm and the family service is on the Sunday at 10am.
As well as the floral displays, there will be home-made cakes, plants stalls and more, as well as rrefreshments.
Volunteers who can help at the festival are welcome – there’s a get-together on Thursday evening for those who are interested. Offers of help can be registered on 01923 267212 or 01923 264884.
Holy Cross will also be marking Open Church Sunday on Sunday, June 23 between 11am and 5pm.
Holy Cross has been called the walker’s church because many footpaths converge there. There will be a display of footpath maps and information about walks in the beautiful Chess valley.
