A CELEBRATION will be held to mark the 40th year since a hall opened for the community.
The Red Cross Hall at Faversham Close in Tring will open its doors to the public with a host of activities on Saturday, April 30.
Activities will range from flower arranging and creative writing to model railways hosted by the Tring and Berkhamsted Model Railway Club.
It is hoped the police and fire services will also attend to show off emergency vehicles and there will be children’s activities. Refreshments will be provided by the Women’s Institute.
Moira Freeman Lea, a member of the hall’s management committee said: “We hope to make it a wonderful celebration of the hall but we need lots of people there to make it a success.
“Mrs Nora Grace raised the money for the hall 40 years ago and it is still the centre of Tring community life.”
Mrs Freeman Lea also paid tribute to the work Shirley Blake and the management committee has done since.
Entry to the hall – which has been home to a number of Tring’s community groups – is free and the celebration runs from 10am until 4pm.
