Politicians’ pay is frozen again

politics: Pay for councillors is to be frozen for the fourth year running.

Dacorum Borough Council’s cabinet has decided not to increase salaries next April, meaning council leader Andrew Williams remains on £19,804, members of the cabinet earn £14,853 and backbench councillors earn £4,951.

However, pay rises for the vice chairman of the licensing and health and safety committee and the chairman of the appeals committee will increase the total salary bill for next year by £4,951 to £381,230.

Herts County Council, which has not yet set pay for next year, has also frozen pay since 2008 and this year the leader earned £38,940, cabinet members £19,176 and backbenchers £9,588.
