Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident which led to the death of a 46-year-old man on Wednesday.

Officers were called to Fairthorn Close, in Tring, at 4.10pm after receiving a report from the ambulance service of a man trapped beneath a vehicle.

It is believed the man may have been working on the car – a Land Rover Discovery – when it rolled back, causing him serious injury.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and the incident is not being treated as suspicious. Police want to speak to anyone who has any information which could help the investigation.

Investigating officer PC Rupert Gadd of the Beds, Cambs and Herts road policing unit said: “This is currently being treated as a tragic incident which sadly led to the death of the man.

“I’m keen to speak to anyone who saw the Land Rover, which had been parked on a driveway, or the man who was believed to be working on it. Any information you have may help us understand exactly how this incident occurred.”

Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting Operation Discourse. They can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
