A WOMAN who was bitten twice in the thigh by a false widow spider has been warned there may be more arachnid anguish in store.

The Gazette told last week how Joanne Charles, 42, from Adeyfield felt ill for five days after the bite.

She sent the spider to Herts National History Society spider specialist Doug Marriott to be examined.

Mr Marriott said this week: “It’s definitely an adult male false widow and I’ve told Joanne to be wary because there could be a female still around, and even some baby spiderlings, too.”

Louise Major, 36, from the Old Town, called the Gazette after she found a false widow, pictured, in a box in her house.
