BEFORE the indulgences of Christmas have even begun people are already looking to lose weight in the New Year by booking their places on pricey fitness boot camps.

At £1,195 per person, the Tring Champneys fit camp week far outstrips the £530 average family spend on Christmas.

And it’s clear that the economic downturn has not put off the spa’s celebrity and high earning guests.

The January camp is already half full and the luxury resort is expecting its booking line to be hit with an influx of calls just after Christmas Day.

Its wellbeing and fitness director Louise Day said: “We are now finding that more and more guests want to make positive changes to their lives and embark on a health and fitness regime at this time of the year.

“Our upcoming Boot Camp from January 14 to 21 is the perfect post Christmas fitness and health boost, ideal to kick-start weight loss after the festive season.”

As well as a host of treatments, health checks and low calorie meals, the participants will take part in exercise classes, such as water polo and hikes, for four to six hours a day.

The spa claims people can lose an average of 6.3lbs and slim down by an average of 4.5 ins, which can be kept up with advice from resident nutritionists and a food plan to take home.

Ms Day said: “The luxury boot camps are fast becoming some of the most sought after breaks that Champneys offer.

“With this in mind, as well as boot camp weeks, we now offer four night breaks and weekend boot camps so our guests can choose the best break for them.”
