Hemel Hempstead’s MP marked the start of a new era of ‘outstanding’ learning and play at Lime Grove Day Nursery after a seven-month building and refurbishment project.

The ribbon was cut by Mike Penning at the newly-renovated Park Road nursery, which has twice been rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’.

Mr Penning, who created shapes at a craft table and enjoyed a story in the garden with the children, said: “Thank you for having faith in Hemel Hempstead and investing in its future.

“I am delighted to see the emphasis placed on outdoor learning and play and the variety of equipment and opportunities available to the children in this marvellous nursery.”

The institution now features large, bright and imaginative age-appropriate playrooms with state of the art toys and learning equipment.

Lime Grove Manager Charlotte Lucas said: “Our nursery has been rated ‘outstanding’ at the last two inspections because we are continually looking at ways to improve the opportunities available to our children.

“The emphasis is always on fun and learning through play whether it is at the very latest interactive smart board or at our growing beds where children can pick up ideas in maths, science and environmental messages as they plant, tend and harvest vegetables and herbs.”

Lime Grove is part of the Childbase Partnership comprising 47 day nurseries in the south of England. All employees are partners in the business.
