A new ambulance station has opened in Hemel Hempstead.

The base in Maxted Road was officially opened by the town’s MP Mike Penning on Friday.

It’s the first brand new station to be opened in Hertfordshire in recent years.

East of England Ambulance Service locality director Dave Fountain said: “It is a proud day to be opening a new ambulance station for the residents of West Hertfordshire. We have been supported every step of the way from staff, esidents, stake holders and our MP Mike Penning. I would like to thank everyone as locality director for their efforts.”

The station will provide a better facility for staff to work from as well as being a useful base to respond to patients locally.

Mr Penning said: “It is a pleasure to see a new ambulance station in Hemel Hempstead. Following the Buncefield incident, I strongly feel that all emergency services should work hand in hand to provide the best care possible to the public and this station highlights that message.”
