POLITICIANS have stressed that free commemorative mugs marking the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee are only for children from their village.
Potten End Parish Council advertised them as free to every child aged under 16 in a newsletter distributed in the village shop.
The Gazette reported last week that they are available to “village children” if under-16s contact the council clerk.
So far, 30 people have contacted her – but none are from the village.
Its chairman Simon Barnard said: “The mugs are not for everyone.”
