Man ‘spat in victim’s face’ during petrol station argument

A man allegedly spat in a father’s face as his five-year-old son looked on during an argument at a petrol station.

Police are appealing for witnesses following two incidents at a petrol station in Hemel Hempstead on Saturday, May 16.

The first incident happened at around 1.20pm on the forecourt of the BP petrol station in Adeyfield Road.

A 42-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead, who had his five-year-old son with him, became involved in a verbal altercation with another man who allegedly spat in his face.

The man and his son left the scene before another member of the public went to speak to the other man.

He also became involved in an altercation.

A 46-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead has been arrested on suspicion of common assault and affray.

Another 35-year-old man from Northampton has been arrested on suspicion of affray.

The pair have been released on police bail until June 14.
