A youngster with a very apt surname is hoping for a Meteor-ic rise into the pop charts after announcing she will release a song on iTunes next month.
Tring Park School pupil Lydia Singer, 12, releases her debut single “Meteor” on October 5 and has set her sights on the Top 40!
Lydia’s aim is to get at least 4,000 downloads of her song on iTunes from Octtober 5, for a week, to stand a chance of making the Top 40.
“I’m unsigned, not an X Factor finalist or a teen boy with a guitar, but I’ve a cracking song and a good voice to go with it,” the confident singer said.
“Just imagine if a 12 year old unknown made it into the Top 40 Charts and on national radio stations where airplay is only given to signed artists.”
Lydia is aiming high despite her tender age and is picking up radio airplay all over the country with her new single, which is released via iTunes and all other digital outlets.
The song was co-written by Rob Davis, who is best known for writing Kylie’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.
Chris Straw of Bauer Radio lavished Lydia with praise after hearing the song, saying: “This young lady has a voice that’s mature well beyond her years.
“Nice build on the song too and a strong chorus. If this is what she can do at 12, she’s gonna have a voice with the power of a laser by the time she’s 18.”
Lydia worked with vocal coach Lauren Field and it was through this connection she started working with Lauren’s husband, record producer, Charles Foskett.
Charles made his friend Rob Davis aware of Lydia’s talents and he was reportedly so blown away by her voice that he agreed to co-write the song for her. The three of them came up with Meteor – a song about young love – especially for Lydia.
As well as releasing her debut single, Lydia is also writing her own material and working with producer Steve Salvari.
Lydia’s musical influences are Eva Cassidy, Adele, Jessie J and Emeli Sande and she hopes, one day, to be as successful as them. She loves to perform at live events and her aim is to make it in the music industry.
