An open weekend is being hosted by the Berkhamsted branch of the Royal British Legion as it seeks the spread the word about its facilities and activities.
Club chairman Ian Gent said: “This is an opportunity to anyone interested in knowing more about the Legion to call in and have a look around, chat to our members and if you like what you see and hear perhaps become a member yourself.
“We have an active and friendly membership.
“We have a full size snooker table which we keep in tip top condition, regular entertainment, quiz nights and ladies and men’s dart teams.
“You do not have to have served in the forces to be a member and contrary to what you may have heard, our members are not all elderly.”
The club is behind W H Smith in the High Street, and the open weekend is on Saturday and Sunday, with entertainment laid on for Saturday night.
A party of 30 Legion members joined a coach trip to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
Ian Hooper, accompanied by branch standard bearer Chris Richards, laid a wreath on behalf of the members of the Berkhamsted branch at the memorial.
The party spent four hours walking around the impressive Staffordshire memorial honouring those who have served, and continue to serve, our nation. Find out more at www.thenma.org.uk.
