A FORMER Mayor of Dacorum is saying his farewells as he prepares to move on after 40 years living in the borough.
Tring town councillor Richard Jameson, 80, and his wife Karin, pictured above, will be moving from their home in Malting Lane, Aldbury, to Surrey to be near to their daughter Claire and three grandchildren.
The former principal finance officer for the Department of Education and Science in London said his favourite memory of Dacorum is living in Aldbury.
He said: “We have found it a very attractive place to live and to know people. The village itself, the shops, pubs and the surrounding countryside have been a great pleasure. We can look back on 40 very happy years here.”
Mr Jameson served as Mayor of Dacorum from 1999 to 2000 and has had three spells as a councillor in Tring. He also served as governor of Grove Road School in Tring and Heath Lane Nursery in Hemel Hempstead, while Mrs Jameson was governor for 12 years at both Tring School and Bishop Wood School.
