Fears that new businesses were too afraid to move into Berkhamsted for fear of being branded not posh enough can now be quashed.

We reported earlier this morning that the shop unit previously occupied by Greggs has now been empty for two months

But it can now be revealed that Vision Express will be moving onto the site – and is due to open its doors ‘towards the end of June’.

The announcement confirms rumours that had been circulating on the Everything Berko page of the social networking website Facebook.

Vision Express CEO Jonathan Lawson said: “We are always looking for new opportunities in the right locations and we are excited at the forthcoming opening of a new Vision Express store in the picturesque town of Berkhamsted.
“Our aim is to be the best, not the biggest, and with a strong focus on service, quality and value for our customers, we hope the people of Berkhamsted will welcome our new store.

“With prices starting at £29 and moving up to the most exclusive of designer brands, we pride ourselves on delivering a high standard of optical care and experience.”

Built on a passion for the optical profession and a drive for unparalleled customer service, Vision Express opened its first store in 1988 in Newcastle.

Part of Europe’s largest optical retail group GrandVision, Vision Express has 373 stores and continues to grow in the UK and Ireland, establishing itself as a leading optical brand.

Vision Express is proud to support The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT), a UK wide charity for families and individuals affected by retinoblastoma.

Over 12 months in 2013/14 Vision Express raised more than £100,000 for the charity. For more details visit, click here
