Organisers of Tring pop concert Chilfest are offering a local unsigned musical act the chance to perform in front of 5,000 people.

The winner of Chilfactor will open the Sunday afternoon show on July 6 – the last of the three-day music bonanza – and receive £1,000 towards the recording of their first single. The competition is open to all those with musical ability, whether they are solo performers or bands.

Organiser Steve Butcher said: “The competition is open to musicians of all ages and genres. It’s a really cool way of involving a local act, and we’re looking forward to seeing what they come up with.”

To enter, all the acts have to do is send a demo tape, CD or mp3 to Universal Event Productions Ltd, Unit 2 Beacon Court, Pitstone Green Business Park, Pitstone, Buckinghamshire, LU7 9GY, along with all contact details.

Ten finalists will be chosen to perform two songs before a panel of judges – still to be confirmed – at the final at Pendley Court Theatre in Tring on May 16.
