A journalist who has written for the Gazette will be signing copies of his new book on Arsenal in Hemel Hempstead this weekend.
Layth Yousif, who has also penned articles for The London Evening Standard, Four-Four-Two, World Soccer, the official Arsenal website and The Gooner Fanzine, is looking forward to signing copies of his book ‘Arsene Wenger: 50 Defining Fixtures’ at the event.
Father of three Layth said: “The response has been phenomenal albeit very surreal. The initial print run sold out before the official publication date and I’ve had terrific reviews on Amazon and various football websites.
“The book has even been featured on Sky Sports, Four-Four-Two, The London Evening Standard, and Arsenal Fan TV. Tesco are already stocking it in their stores, and Arsenal Football Club are planning to stock it on rotation. There’s even been talk of a Chinese version.
“I interviewed Sol Campbell for the Evening Standard recently, and he kindly penned the foreword to my book - even he’s been asking me about how it’s selling.
Arsenal fan Layth, who worked in Investment Banking for over a decade and has an MBA as well as previously studying for an NCTJ Diploma in Newspaper Journalism has already been asked to write a further two books.
He said: “The publishers who commissioned me, Amberely, want me to write an additional Arsenal book in 2015 with another on England’s participation at Euro 2016 also proposed. I love writing, and being an author is hugely fulfilling as well as being great fun - but I never want to lose sight of my day-to-day journalism work as a news, business and sports reporter - which for me is the main thing.
“I look forward to seeing as many Hemel Gooners as possible this Saturday at Waterstones - if only so I can talk about Arsenal Football Club and call it work!”
