Go buy local products and support Fairtrade

WITH Fairtrade Fortnight on the horizon people will be able to find out about local produce while schools can enter a national competition to win £350.

The Tring branch of the foundation has printed a leaflet listing suppliers and shops that sell Fairtrade products.

An award scheme started in Tring in 2005 which has since taken on national status is also under way. The Margaret Demidecka Fairtrade Award challenges schools to tell the story of Fairtrade through activities.

The 2012 Fairtrade Fortnight from February 27 to March 11 marks the start of the group’s Take A Step Campaign to encourage its supporters to hold Fairtrade events throughout the year.

The Berkhamsted Fairtrade Steering Group will sell Fairtrade cakes, coffee, food and clothes in The Court House, Church Lane, on Tuesday, February 28.

Pupils from the town’s Victoria C of E First School will also take part in the 9am to noon event.

To volunteer at the Berkhamsted steering group, ring its chairman Angela Morris on 01442 866992.
