GET involved with carnival fun by volunteering as a float driver as part of celebrations to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

On Monday, June 4, a parade will snake its way through Hemel Hempstead’s town centre.

But to go ahead six lorry drivers (C1 licence/7,5 tonne) are needed to drive the spectacularly decorated floats which will represent the six decades of the Queen’s reign.

The procession will begin at 11am in the town centre and head to Gadebridge Park where the floats will stay until around 4pm. The lorries will return to their base at Cupid Green in the late afternoon.

Marshals are also needed to help out at the event. Helpers should be aged 18 years or over.

> Help ensure Hemel Hempstead’s leg of the Olympic torch relay goes without a hitch by volunteering as a marshal.

The flame will be travelling through the town on the afternoon of Sunday, July 8.

Helpers must to be aged over 18 and prepared to stand for at least three hours.

There will be a briefing before the event. Training will be given and there will also be the possibility for some helpers to gain accredited stewarding training.
