ONE lane of the A41 had to be closed by police while firefighters battled a car blaze.

Two crews from Hemel Hempstead were called to the fire - between the Bourne End and Hemel Hempstead slip roads - just before 5pm on Tuesday.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and one hose reel to put out the flames.

Lane one of the bypass was reopened at around 6pm after the silver Ford Focus, which had been travelling towards Hemel Hempstead, was recovered.

No one was injured.
