A fire broke out on the roof of a primary school last night.

Two fire crews were called to St Thomas More School in Berkhamsted just before 8pm on Thursday.

They discovered a fire on the roof of the building in Greenway.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and spent time dampening down before leaving the scene just before 9.30pm. The cause of the blaze was logged as accidental.

The school is currently in the process of replacing the roof during the summer holidays and said the damage was minimal.
