More people are now in work compared to the same time last year, according to the latest figures.

Statistics show that 236 less people in the Hemel Hempstead area are now claiming jobseekers allowance compared to the same period last year.

The figures, just published by the Office for National Statistics, relate to March.

Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning said: “This is proof that the government is absolutely right to focus on the economy and jobs.”

A total of 1,142 men are currently claiming, while 687 woman receive the aid.
