CROWDS gathered at a market stall to help stitch the longest stretch of bunting ever.

The event at Berkhamsted market was led by Angela Morris, chairman of the Berkhamsted Fairtrade Steering Group.

People decorated 150 banners at the Saturday event, bringing the total to 335.

The pieces, made from Fairtrade cotton, will go to an attempt to break a world record.

She said: “Fairtrade Fortnight in Berkhamsted has gone really well and we are delighted with the interest and positive response we have encountered.” The fortnight ran from to February 28 to March 13.
