Elderly man is knocked down crossing road

POLICE are still at the scene where an 82-year-old man was knocked down as he tried to cross a road today.

The man was hit by a driver in a silver Honda Civic at the junction of Lower Kings Road and High Street in Berkhamsted.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after being called at around 1.50pm.

A woman, believed to be his partner, was rushed to Watford General Hospital after collapsing at the scene.

The man had head injuries but was conscious.

Lower Kings Road is expected to be closed for hours while police investigate.

Irene Harrap, manager of Clinton Cards shop said people looked “shocked” by scenes taking place, after around half-a-dozen police cars arrived.
