Parents stop school size rise... for now

EDUCATION chiefs have halted plans to make a school almost double in size after receiving more than 240 objections.

Herts County Council had proposed that Greenway First and Nursery School in Crossways, Berkhamsted, increase class sizes by 30 each year from September 2012.

This would have gone on until each school year had 30 extra pupils. The site was one of many in the county suggested for expansion in a consultation.

But after a campaign by parents and school governors, chiefs have dropped Greenway from their list.
