CHILDREN made rockets and drew up designs for their dream playhouses during an three-school educational day.
They learned about British celebrities that work in creative industries including Vivienne Westwood, Jamie Oliver, Philip Treacy and James Dyson.
Berkhamsted’s Victoria First School, Westfield First School and Nursery and Thomas Coram Middle School teamed up for the design and technology event on Friday.
Some of the youngsters made and evaluated paper rockets propelled by air – which they then launched en masse from their playground.
Others designed their own dream playhouses which included castles with saw-bridges and palaces with huge swimming pools.
They made a paper straw tower (left) that could stand on its own and teacher Katie Hayes said they described the day was “brilliant” and “awesome”.
She said: “This day has been a fun enjoyable learning opportunity for all. I am really proud of all the children - they have displayed some excellent team work.”
