A PARENT has made an official complaint against a secondary school after a last-minute course cancellation forced sixth-formers to choose an alternative subject.

It was not until the students returned to school at the beginning of September that many Year 12 students at Tring School were told to choose a different A-level because new head teacher Sue Collings had decided to cancel ICT at AS-level.

The pupils were handed letters saying that the school was ‘extremely concerned’ with the achievements of students in the recent AS-levels and that it will no longer be offering it to Year 12 students this year.

The teenagers were told they would get help finding alternative subjects and that the school would try to set up an AS course for next year’s new sixth-form students.

Parent Cliff Brown, whose daughter achieved an A in GCSE ICT and intended to take the AS-level course, was so angry with the sudden decision to cut the course he made an official complaint.
