TOWN leaders say the law could be used to prevent developers from continually resubmitting planning applications that have already been rejected.
They were responding to an application by the firm Chipperfield Land Company to build five new houses in the place of two already at The Pines in North Road, Berkhamsted.
Councillor Peter Matthews said the developer has been trying to push the plans through for four years with few substantial changes between applications.
A group of neighbours were at the meeting to protest the development and said the only changes made to plans in the latest application, submitted in March, were the removal of a few garages.
Councillor Laurence Handy, speaking as a neighbour of the proposed site, said he was tired of all the “applications and appeals and appeals of appeals.”
