A CLEVER remake of an old building has been highly commended in an annual building design award.

Tring Local History Museum won the commendation at this year’s Chilterns Building Design Awards for its transformation of the cattle market in Brook Street into the current museum.

The award, organised by the Chilterns Conservation Board and the Chiltern Society, was made for its ‘simple, symmetrical and sensitive extension and refurbishment, complementing the existing building and showing real care, excellent workmanship and great attention to detail’.

The museum, telling the story of Tring and the nearby villages, is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm and is free to visit.
