A HOSPICE wants volunteer hairdressers to help out.

The Hospice of St Francis, based off Shootersway in Northchurch, wants them to work in its day hospice – open on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Day patients have access to doctors, nurses, therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, hairdressers, a chaplain and arts workers from 10.30am to 3pm at the hospice on those days.

Day hospice sister Janet Worsley said: “Having any kind of illness can affect a person’s whole body image especially if it is invasive treatments that can change their appearance.

“A great deal of our work focuses on helping people feel better about themselves.

“It means so much to patients to have their hair done and look nice.”
