POLICE are encouraging people to register their belongings online after a spate of thefts across the county.

They include a mobile phone that was stolen from a coat pocket in High Street, Bovingdon, at about 11am on Bank Holiday Monday.

A boy’s bike was stolen from outside a shop in High Street, Hemel Hempstead, between 2.50pm and 3.05pm that same day.

Herts police are now asking people to register their goods for free at www.immobilise.com.

Detective Inspector Paul Doran said: “It’s a good idea to mark your bike with your postcode - with a UV pen if you don’t want to visibly mark the frame - and register it for free on www.immobilise.com.

“That way, if you are unlucky enough to have something stolen, police can return it to you if it’s recovered.”
