THE chairman of a parish council claimed at a meeting that its clerk has been suspended and that the police were involved.

Dale Jordan, who had worked for Northchurch Parish Council, was reportedly removed from her job on Monday, June 13.

At its meeting on Mondaythis week, chairman Alan Fantham said: “I can tell you that the clerk has been suspended.

“Since the police are involved, there is not a lot more I can say at the moment.

“We will make sure the general public do not suffer while this situation is ongoing.

“It is causing a lot of confusion and difficulty, I can tell you, but I am grateful to everyone for your patience during this time.”

But police spokesman Olivia Finucane said although they were called, no offence had been committed and nobody had been arrested.

Mr Fantham, who is also a member of Dacorum Borough Council, resigned as parish council chairman in December last year complaints made about him to Dacorum Borough Council’s standards board in March 2010, which has yet to be resolved.

But he stood for election with seven other members of the Northchurch Residents Association at the parish council elections in May and, after they all won, he took up the chairmanship again.
