Crime-fighting advice for festive shoppers

CRIME-FIGHTING advice to combat festive thieves has been issued by police.

Herts Police has put together a smart guide for security-savvy shoppers.

County crime reduction officer Dave Mance said: “We want to make sure that it’s you, your friends and loved ones who enjoy any gifts you buy, not thieves looking to profit from the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping.”

Officers have issued the following advice;

- Keep purses in a zipped handbag and wallets in front pockets rather than the back.

-Don’t leave newly bought presents on display in the car.

-Stay alert when shopping online. Make sure that the web address of the page starts http:// before entering any personal information or payment details. The ‘s’ stands for secure.
