Proposals for a cycle and pedestrian link between Hemel Hempstead’s town centre and railway station are due to be signed off by county councillors this week before being sent out for public consultation.

As part of the blueprint for the future, plans for double yellow lines in troubled Station Road are on the agenda. Campaigners say the road has been made dangerous by irresponsible motorists who park on verges, blocking the view for drivers pulling out of St John’s Road.

It also means that pavements are no go areas for mobility scooter users and parents with buggies, and the grass verges have become a muddy and unsightly mess.

The consultation is due to be launched later this month.
