A VAN on fire caused an A41 slip-road to be closed when police and fire crews were called to the scene.

The driver of the white Vauxhall Astra Van pulled into the southbound carriageway hard shoulder after the engine cut out and flames appeared.

Fire crews from Tring and Berkhamsted attended the scene off the slip road by Tring after a call made at 1.20pm yesterday.

The van, also carrying a passenger and dog, was destroyed in the blaze which is believed to have been caused by a fuel or electrical fault.

No one was injured in the incident.
