Hemel Hempstead man Neil Parkins and teammates Mark Flashman, Keith Flashman and Matthew Jones are taking part in the Macmillan Cancer Support Longest Day Golf Challenge today.

The task requires participants to play four rounds of golf in one day and Neil’s group will be playing at theirs at Little Hay Golf Course, near Hemel Hempstead.

The club and Sportspace are allowing the chums to play for free.

Neil said: “At the end of last year, I sadly lost my cousin Pam to cancer at the age of 39, so in tribute to Pam and the other members of my family who have been affected by cancer, we would like to give something back to Macmillan Cancer Care.

“We have all run marathons, so as a different challenge, we have chosen to take on the longest day challenge, we are hoping to raise around £400, so all support for our challenge would be gratefully accepted.”

Macmillan fundraising manager for Herts Kerry Cunnane says “I wish Neil and his team Fore Left the best of luck with their challenge.

“I have been with the charity for eight years now and people often tell me how challenging this event is but equally how much fun they have on the day.”
