The new cod on the block in Tring’s Dolphin Square this spring will offer several employment opportunities to locals.

Wilson’s Fish and Chips – which has its flagship branch in Chingford, Essex – is set to replace former chippy The Plaice which closed its doors in December.

Business owner Luigi Forgione said: “One of my managers from Chingford is moving to Tring, so there will be two or three positions available. I’m not sure whether they will be full-time or part-time yet – we’ll have to see how it goes.”

The new shop is set to welcome its first customers around Easter time, as the refit team are waiting on the delivery of a specialist range from Holland.

Luigi said: “It should arrive in the next two to three weeks, and then we can get going.”

The 45-year-old said he’s excited to bring his secret batter recipe to Tring after having a look around the town and deciding to take the plunge.

He said: “I really like Tring. It’s a traditional English town and it’s got a lovely feel to it. I love my job, and my staff and I give everything we do 100 per cent. It’s a passion.”
