Care quality improving according to patient poll

HOSPITAL bosses are celebrating ‘high levels of patient satisfaction’ in the latest survey of care in west Herts.

West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust has been ranked ‘about the same’ as other trusts on a range of factors including waiting times, cleanliness and attitudes of staff.

The survey by health watchdogs the Care Quality Commission during 2011 shows overall care was rated 7.6 out of 10, an improvement on the previous two years when the trust was ranked in the bottom fifth in the country.

Trust chief executive Jan Filochowski said: “We are delighted this survey, coupled with the recent outpatient survey, reveals our patients are more than satisfied with services and their overall experience of our hospitals is good. We have worked hard over the past years to make improvements and we plan to continue to modernise systems and practices so patients get the high-quality, safe care they expect and deserve.”
