A high speed crash on the M25 was captured by a motorist’s in-car dashcam.
Footage shows a white Citroen van travelling down the outside lane when the traffic in front of it comes to a halt.
The white van driver fails to stop and attempts to swerve out of the way, hits the silver Corsa ahead causing it to smash into the central reservation.
Recovery firm owner Clive Larner, of Hemel Hempstead, recorded the accident on his RoadHawk DC-2 dashboard camera earlier this month.
The 46 year old said: “I had just picked up a customer’s car from Reading services and I was on my way back to the garage in Long Marston.
“To be honest the first I remember seeing was the white van swerving after it hit the silver car.
“I hit the save button on my RoadHawk and pulled over but it wasn’t until I got home later to look at my dashcam footage that I realised how serious it was.
“This is the first time I have caught something this serious on my RoadHawk but it is brilliant to know that if I was ever involved in an accident that wasn’t my fault, I would be covered. I just hope everyone involved is OK.”
