The person who thinks of the best name for a new retirement homes complex in Berkhamsted will win £100 in a new competition.

The 48 one and two-bedroom apartments will be built just outside of the town centre in the High Street near its junction with Stag Lane.

The first people living there are expected to move into the complex in summer next year.

The competition is being run by developer of the complex Churchill Retirement Living, which advises entrants that all of the names for its complexes end with the word Lodge.

To enter the contest, send your suggestion, your reason for it and your name to Anne Scherrer, Churchill Retirement Living, FREEPOST NAT 4387, Ringwood, BH24 3BR.

The deadline for entries is Tuesday, May 20.

The winning name will appear on the development itself and in all related marketing literature. If more than one person chooses the top name, the winner will be picked from a hat.

The new retirement complex will have a video-entry system, lift to all floors, a 24-hour care and support system, and a lodge manager.

Communal facilities include an Owners’ Lounge, Wellbeing Suite and Guest Suite, a laundry room and landscaped gardens.

Speaking on behalf of the firm, Bea Sharples said: “Like all Churchill Retirement Living Developments, the location has been chosen for convenience.

“It is close to shops and local amenities and is well served by public transport.”
