A COMMUNITY centre will survive despite losing thousands of pounds each year, a village chief insists.
The prediction is that Northchurch Social Centre in Bell Lane, Northchurch, will be left with a £4,380 loss for the financial year 2010 to 2011.
The predicted loss for the next year is £6,050.
The figures were announced at a meeting of Northcchurch Parish Council.
But councillor Giles Batchelor, who is a member of centre managers the Northchurch and District Association, said he doesn’t think the centre will close at any time soon.
He said: “The thing with a business like this is that income fluctuates. Some years they benefit more than others.”
He said the social centre has enough funds to sustain itself for quite a while yet.
