Dacorum’s Den winner Cassie Hicks Kerr has taken her online marketing business to the next level with help from the council’s cash injection.
Cassie’s business is called MMSpark (Modern Marketing Spark) which helps busy entrepreneurs and small businesses attract new clients, generate sales and grow their businesses using online marketing and social media.
Cassie said: “The £1,000 I received from Dacorum’s Den has been vital in launching and growing the Modern Marketing Club (MMC).
“MMC isn’t a bricks-and-mortar club, it is a unique online club offering ongoing marketing and social media training, support and masterminding for small businesses.
“My clients are finding that social media is opening up opportunities for their businesses to grow. In this way they can employ more people and help Dacorum’s economy go from strength to strength. It’s brilliant that the Dacorum’s Den scheme recognised the potential of social media to change the way we work.”
Cassie works with more than 150 clients in Herts and Beds and runs regular social media and online marketing workshops and webinars.
Cassie’s business proposal was put under the microscope by Dacorum’s Den dragons earlier this year.
The judges, Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning, Dacorum Borough Council leader Andrew Williams, Andrew Carr from Bull Information, Peter Willson of Hopespare, and Sue Davies of Bourne Leisure, selected the Modern Marketing Club as one of the eight winners.
For the last four-plus years Cassie has owned and run a successful room rental business in Hemel Hemsptead and in 2010 she started an amazing community of savvy entrepreneurial women, Women’s Way To Wealth.
Cassie said: “Thank you Dacorum’s Den judges and the Small Business Forum for your endorsement of my idea.”
Dacorum’s Den offers small grants of up to £1,000 for developing or test trading a new product or service or expanding into a new market.
